X-OOM Media Center for Wii Coming November 2007
If you’ve ever wanted to turn your Wii into a multimedia center, you don’t have long to wait. The X-OOM Media Center for the Wii will be released this November. Just in time for the Holiday rush, too.
Here are some perks of the X-OOM Media Center:
- Clear, accessible structure
- Access your PC multimedia files on your Nintendo Wii
- Showcase photos
- Use the Wii Remote to select files
- Transfer all files through the Wii’s wi-fi with a click of a button
- 1000+ Web TV channels and radio stations
- Supports mp3, WMA, OGG, DivX, XviD, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, JPG and BMP
Pretty spiffy. I’m looking forward to this. It definitely sounds like it’s worth checking out.

This software will not require anything installed on the Wii.
It works like Orb does, in so much as you access content generated on the PC as if it were an interactive website, so you’ll need to have Opera browser running.
It’s a shame that it doesn’t work as an installed Wii channel - when will someone pull their finger out and develop some WiiWare that does this without having to utilize Opera?

Patrick,
do I take it then that you’re implying that one of these will be a media player font-end for accessing networked PC content?
Where can we find more info on these new channels?
