Nintendo of America has confirmed that Wii Music will be hitting shelves in October.

Players will be able to improvise ‘jams’ on the fly with more than 60 instruments, such as the electric guitar, trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, steel drums, marimba and sitar. Once an instrument is selected players need only move their Wii Remote and Nunchuck as though playing the real thing and Wii Music will turn this into great music.

In addition to jamming, budding musicians will be able to play along to more than 50 songs from a variety of genres including popular, licensed, classical and Nintendo songs.

Other features include the ability to share performances via the Wii message boards, record songs and send to friends, command orchestras, and play on the virtual drum set. Combined with the Wii Balance Board, you can finally be the drummer of your dreams. Virtually, of course.

No release date for Europe has been announced yet, but North Americans can get their hands on the game on October 20.
