Japanese Wii owners can now head out and purchase the newly released Nintendo Wi-Fi Network Adapter, the latest gadget by Nintendo intended to help player’s Internet connectivity.
The new router is a wireless 802.11g/b router with a single LAN port and has gone on sale for 5,800 yen (roughly US$55). Just as with standard Buffalo branded routers, this Network Adapter from Nintendo comes with an AOSS button that easily allows consumers to synchronise their Wii or DS systems to it with the greatest of ease, removing the awkward process of having to type in a long security key.
Alas, the Wi-Fi adapter doesn’t look to be heading out of Japan any time soon. Specifically, Nintendo stated that there were no plans to release it in Europe. So if you want one outside of Japan, importing it may be your only option.
Sam & Max Season One will be hitting the Wii on October 7. This Wii version packs first six-episode “season” of Sam & Max games on one $29.99 disc which features TV widescreen support.
In Season One, straight-laced canine detective Sam and his psychotic “rabbity-thing” sidekick Max are on the hunt for the mastermind behind a baffling hypnosis conspiracy. Players get to interrogate suspects (with amusing results), uncover clues, solve puzzles, and ultimately piece together the underlying mystery that links the episodes.
“Point and click” interface and a new tutorial are used to provide a low learning curve for new players to immerse in the game without kinks.
To usher the first Sam & Max console game, GameStop is offering a preorder deal that gives a CD containing Sam & Max bonus content, including a behind-the-scenes “making of” featurette, trailers, concept art, a soundtrack sampler, and desktop wallpapers to fans who order before the October 7 release date. You can make your reservation at GameStop stores or here.
If you can’t get enough of the dog and rabbit duo, here’s the official site.
The Dark Side has dawned on the Wii this week by releasing Star Wars: The Force Unleashed which stars you, yepyep, you as Darth Vader’s secret apprentice. With the Wii remote and the nunchuck, you can experience a different type of gameplay from the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 versions.
Of course LucasArts will not leave you to play as a lone ranger as if you want a duel with your buddy or adversary, you can easily switch to “Battle or Duel” mode to unleash your Jedi skills against some human (simliar to the classic game, Star Wars: Masters of Teräs Käsi). With 27 characters to begin, you got plenty of replay value.
A Star Wars video game not to be missed by Star Wars fans.
The Star Wars saga will continue in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a videogame developed by LucasArts, which casts players as Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice” and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.
As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force. The Wii version will not only give you a solid story-line developed by LucasArts involving the Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, but you’ll experience a new style of gameplay only the Wii can offer. With the Wiimote and Nunchuck you’ll be able to battle your way through your enemies utilizing your Lightsaber attacks and Force powers. Not only can you experience this new control system in story mode, but you can also try your Jedi skills against a friend in the Wii, “Battle Mode.” Joining the Dark Side doesn’t seem like such a bad idea after all.
Game Features:
* During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader’s Secret Apprentice.
* Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice’s four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos.
* Examples of unleashing the Force in ways never thought possible:
o The Secret Apprentice won’t just Force push enemies into walls - he’ll Force push enemies through walls.
o The Secret Apprentice won’t just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he’ll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
* In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader.
* Visit locations such as Episode III’s Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility.
* The Wii system’s “Battle Mode,” a one on one fighting arena simliar to the classic game, Star Wars: Masters of Teräs Käsi.
* Use the Wiimote to slash and pierce your enemies with your Jedi Lightsaber while you use the Wii Nunchuk to disable other opponents with your Force Powers.
* LucasArts is preparing an unprecedented promotional effort around the launch of The Force Unleashed, encompassing a full line of toys and game-based action figures from Hasbro, as well as a full publishing program from Dark Horse, Del Rey and Palace Press.
Honestly, I hate to change the AA batteries of my Wii Remote every now and then but probably now I have found a solution…
The Wii InCharge Dual Charge Station by Tekno Creations works great with silicone skin Wii Remote as the charging gadget doesn’t need your Wii Remote to be in exact contact with the base. It can charge two Wii controllers in a single shot and lasts you for around 25 hours of play on a full charge. Blue LED lights are there to indicate the charging status. The whole package includes a charging stand and 2 lithium battery packs.
An Amazon product review says:
It worked like a charm. No more hassles with the batteries. Must get for any Wii owner.

GameStop head honcho, Dan DeMatteo, has expressed this year impending Xmas Wii shortage.
BIZ: What are your thoughts on Wii, a console that’s still impossible to find after two years?
DD: I’ve never seen this type of demand before. I know they’re making more, but we’re still short like everybody else. I think we’ll have a continued shortage this Christmas.
BIZ: When do you think Wiis will be readily available at retail?
DD: I don’t see a near-term end in sight for Wii shortages, not unless they really ramp up supply. I think they’ve ramped it up 20 percent or so, but Nintendo is fairly cautious by nature. They ramped it up 20 and it’s still evaporating.
I know the Wii Fit is a nice piece of Nintendo gadget but what if your Wii Fit turns Freddy Krueger? What if your Wii Fit haunts you with recurring nightmares and monotonous workouts every moment? What if you are in Wii Fit on Elm Street?
Yep. that’s what Gordon Ramsay, the Chef judge of Hell’s Kitchen, says in Hell’s Kitchen The Game for the Wii. This competitve cooking game is just one of the new Wii releases this week. Just like the TV show, contestants are tested in all aspects of cooking - preparation, cooking and service. Ramsay will watch your every move and shout “Shut Down!” if necessary. But it is a relief that you can play with a partner to advance in career mode and learn exclusive Ramsay’s recipes.
NHL 2K9 needs no introduction as this is an iteration of the popular hockey franchise.
Active Life: Outdoor Challenge is a get-off-your-couch-and-do-some-exercise game that makes use of your Wii Remote and its Active Life Mat. You can play as your Mii in various outdoor games (with multiple levels) such as river rafting, mine-cart adventure, log jumping, see-saw, jump rope, water trampoline and many more.
It is entirely unsurprising that Nintendo fans are angry; with all of the amazing soundtracks available in the many Nintendo games currently out there, the company has decided to release the music for … Wii Fit? An interesting - and baffling - move for many fans.
But if the Wii Fit music is what you’ve been waiting for, well wait no longer, friends. Here’s what you can expect:
Take Two CEO Ben Feder revealed that the company has not ruled out a Wii version of the popular Grand Theft Auto franchise. Indeed, the video game publisher has solid plans to “grow its relationship” with Nintendo, which could only mean good things for Wii owners and GTA fans.
“So without commenting on whether GTA specifically whether it is coming to the Wii or not, I will say that Nintendo and Take-Two work very well together. Nintendo and Rockstar are beginning to work well together and we intend to continue to grow that relationship.”
Gotta love it when they’re vague. But I still hold out hope of seeing GTA on the Wii. It would make my day.
