Nintendo Plans Wii-like Handheld
The Internets are abuzz with news of Nintendo’s plans for a new type of handheld system - this one featuring motion controls. Wiiboy, anyone? Though, I’m partial to the Wiigirl title, myself.
News came straight from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office where Nintendo has recently (and by recently I mean in March) filed a patent application for their handheld-to-be.
The application specifically states that the motion sensors would detect tilt, movement and impact on the proposed system’s outer casing.
“A simulation program provides simulation such that a state of a game space is changed related to at least one of the amount and direction of the change applied to the housing,” the application reads.
In other words: Move the unit around, and the game responds.
Sounds pretty sweet to me. I wonder if it will need to be encased in some protective gear in order to not damage other appliances?
