High Definition Wii?
Analyst Michael Pachter of Webush Morgan speculates that Nintendo may launch a high definition Wii sometime in the next two to three years in order to comply with consumer demands for more graphically advanced consoles.
“Consumers may hope for improved graphics, and my guess is that Nintendo will comply,” Pachter told GamePro.
“In two or three years, commodity prices for graphics processors and CPUs may decline to the point that a High Definition Wii could be introduced. If so, Nintendo will likely introduce one,” he added.
A number of industry insiders have recently suggested that enthusiasm for Nintendo’s Wii could fade in time, specifically as it’s graphically inferior to Sony’s PS3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360. In an interview with Next-Gen, David Braben said that the Wii “sort of has a novelty problem… I think a lot of people are looking at the Wii, especially as it’s not a high definition machine, as a sort of party game machine,” Braben said. He went on to compare the Wii to EyeToy, which “lasted maybe eighteen months before people got bored with it, so that’s something that we should bare in mind with the Wii.”
I think as long as Nintendo keeps coming up with great games that utilize its Wii Remote in new and creative ways, the Wii isn’t going anywhere. That said, I wouldn’t be opposed to a high definition Wii. I love nice graphics as much as the next geek.
Two to thee years is a bit of time away, though. So I guess we’ll see what happens.

I have also heard about an upcoming successor to the Nintendo DS, named the DSi. It will have two 3 mega pixal cameras, larger screens, internet capabilities, internal data storage and will be smaller, as well as having no GBA slot. Apparently.

I’m really looking forward to the High Def Wii (if it even exists), because quite frankly, some of the Wii third-party graphics are pretty…well…awful. i.e. Iron Man: The Game (look it up).
