Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, Ferrari Racing Coming To Wii

Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, a forthcoming extreme racing Wii title from System 3 and Activision, aims to be more sim than arcade.

Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is a visual powerhouse with a racing style that is fast and accessible, yet the feel is more “sim” than arcade. It includes over 15 international racing circuits along with multiple gameplay modes such as Ferrari Challenge Seasons, Time Trial, Quick Race, and Endurance. Racing can be taken online with up to 16 players in a variety of challenges including circuits, hill climbs, and more.

Downloadable content will be continually released for the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli community, and the official team and car rosters can be updated at the start of each season to reflect real-world lineups. Moreover, downloadable cars, tracks and customization options will be made available on a monthly basis to keep ravenous Ferrari fans satisfied.

I’m thinking of a Ferrari Wii Remote or Wii Wheel in the making.

If that game had been out last summer, I might have considered choosing the Wii over the XBox 360, which isn’t getting the game (for now) due to licensing conflicts (presumably either because of Forza Motorsports 2 or the Project Gotham Racing series, both of which make extensive use of the Ferrari license).

Fortunately, it’s also coming out for the PS2, which I do have. (My brother has the Wii, but he’s not interested in serious racing games.)

If you ever do a follow-up article about this game and you still don’t have a cover or screenshot for an illustration, I’ve begun an album of photos for this year’s Ferrari fest, and there will be a lot more Autostitch’ed composite shots like the one of the F355 that you used in the article (but better, since I’ve had a lot more practice taking photos specifically to be stitched).
